Setting “Feel” Goals

One of the top questions I get is this…

Can I (and how do I) set goals with intuitive eating?

How do I set goals without following a diet?

Can we do both?

My answer… YES!

And my method for doing this is something called setting “feel goals”.

It’s really just as it sounds… set goals based on how you want to feel.

Set a goal to FEEL a certain way.

What this does is it emphasizes something more in your control (how you feel) than your weight which sometimes is out of our control.

You can work towards feeling healthy, strong, energized (these are a few of the top goals my clients are working towards) and do the things that will get you here, regardless of whether your weight changes or not.

It’s a MUCH MORE sustainable goal to work towards than lose 20 lbs.

Because you don’t know if losing 20 lbs is sustainable for your unique body.

We KNOW that feeling healthy IS a sustainable goal that you can keep working towards time and time again.

Another reason why I’m such a fan of setting feel goals is because something I see a lot of people struggling with when they set a weight goal, for instance, is if their weight isn’t changing as quickly or as much as they thought it would, they get discouraged and give up altogether. Or, on the other hand, if they reach their goal weight they may give up on the things they did to get there or not know how to sustain and eat and exercise normally at this point.

So, in today’s podcast episode I’m going to teach you my method for setting goals in this way… by focusing on how you want to feel.
