Misconceptions About Intuitive Eating

Have you been curious about intuitive eating, but feel like it’s really not for you?

You’re not alone! When I first heard about intuitive eating, I thought it meant I’d just eat pizza and cookies, never be able to plan meals or have health goals, and be shamed for wanting to lose weight.

And, many of my clients first come to me with the same beliefs.

But if you really dig into what intuitive eating is actually about, you’ll see that none of those beliefs are true.

This week on the Redefining Health Podcast I’m sharing with you 4 of the most common misconceptions about intuitive eating to hopefully give you a clearer picture of what intuitive eating is all about.

In a nutshell, intuitive eating is not about losing control and letting go of caring for your health. At first glance it may seem that way, but when you get into the principles and psychology of it, you’ll learn how intuitive eating is actually health-promoting.

Here are the top 4 misconceptions about intuitive eating:

  1. Making peace with food and your body means you will stop caring about my health.

  2. Intuitive eating just means you eat pizza and cookies all the time.

  3. You can’t desire weight loss and eat intuitively at the same time.

  4. Intuitive eating is just “fly by the seat of your pants” eating (you can’t meal plan because that’s a diet).

Listen to this week’s episode to learn why all of these are not true and how intuitive eating is actually health promoting.
